Empower Your Fitness Program


The nation is up in arms about the most recent viruses that threaten us. I’m not downplaying the serious nature of the people suffering from ebola. I can’t help but think that there are probably other conditions we know nothing about, yet we seem to survive. As K says in Men in Black, “There’s always an Arquillian Battle Cruiser, or a Corillian Death Ray, or an intergalactic plague that is about to wipe out all life on this miserable little planet, and the only way these people can get on with their happy lives is that they DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT!” Ignorance is bliss especially when we already have so much to freak us out. Have a little faith that the CDC and other agencies are handling this. Don’t let fear rule your life.

I have a theory about the motivation and energy in this world — this isn’t mine alone, but I claim it as mine for the context of this story. There are two driving forces in the world. Love and Fear. I wage my own personal war against the latter, and would like to share some pointers I’ve found useful.

Left unchecked Fear can be debilitating. It keeps you from stepping out and trying new things. It causes people to be prejudice and alienate whole cultures or races. Fear can sideline a kid who wants to ask a girl out on a date, or keep someone from applying for their dream job. The other faces of fear are aversion, awe, anxiety, distress, dread, jitters, panic, phobia, angst, terror, unease, worry, tremor, timidity, suspicion and that’s just the tip of the ice burg.

The polar opposite of fear is Love. Love is fondness, adulation, allegiance, regard, worship, yearning, good taste, Georgia Heartsentiment, relish, respect, inclination, warmth, friendship. Love gets things done, and the results exceed your highest expectations. Love picks you up when you need it most.

Next time you worry about this and all horrible diseases. When you give up on your desire to be fit and healthy. If what you choose for yourself is less than your biggest dream for your highest purpose. Then you are allowing FEAR to run your life. Here are some recommendations for how to fight that feeling.

When you hear about anything negative or painful — Think of LOVE (and say a little prayer)

Don’t spread gossip or rumors.

Find a way to bring brightness and fun into the world.

Be the example of Peace and Love in the World.

How can this help your fitness and weight loss path? It will make you less prone to feel like a victim. It builds confidence. It attracts more positive things into your life, and you feel great about the changes you are making. Instead of looking at the food you can’t have, you will look at all the wonderful things you can eat. Foods that will make you well and give you power to get through your life, and when you’re empowered — you can do anything.
