Harry Potter, and other movies share one commonality I find interesting – they have dedicated fans. There are clubs, nicknames, and sites on the internet where fans can get games, gifts, costumes or recipes. Like the recipe for butterbeer.
Rosmerta’s Recipes – Butterbeer by MelissaButterbeer! It warms you up AND tastes great. Now in take-away form from The Three Broomsticks. (Many thanks to Melissa for this recipe!)
- 1 cup (8 oz) club soda or cream soda
- ½ cup (4 oz) butterscotch syrup (ice cream topping)
- ½ tablespoon butter
Directions: Measure butterscotch and butter into a 2 cup (16 oz) glass. Microwave on high for 1 – 1 1/2 minutes, or until syrup is bubbly and butter is completely incorporated. Stir and cool for 30 seconds, then slowly mix in club soda. Mixture will fizz quite a bit. Serve in two coffee mugs.
This is fun and something the producers count on to bring in big money. It’s a great escape. I’m an avid reader of fiction. I love going to another world and exploring the story created by the author. The energy is almost palatable.
So, why can’t people put the same amount time and energy into losing weight that they put into other things? I think there are countless reasons but they can be lumped into two categories.
- It’s too hard. Emotional eating. Anyway you wrap it — the psychological reasons surrounding obesity are not easily identified let alone overcome.
- It’s takes too much effort. We are just not willing to do the dieting and exercise required to get thin.
Many Americans want to lose weight, but we also want to win a million dollars! We want to eat exactly what we want to eat, but at the same time we want to be thin and shapely. You’re made of better stuff than that. Don’t allow yourself to be the petulant child stomping your foot at the injustice. You can take the steps and fight your way back to a healthy body. Design a plan of attack and then stick with it.
First you must start with really wanting it. You must really desire it even more than you want that chocolate cake or Butterbeer. Start the work of identifying your personal demons. Journal to break into the Chamber of Secrets within your heart and mind. Only then will you have the fire you need to do the exercise and change your eating.
